What happens when the online world crosses over and becomes part of the real world? What happens when someone who up to this point only existed online becomes someone who is standing face to face with you? What happens? What happens when this person who had no voice and has only shown glimpses of their face online is now very very real?
I can now tell you what happens......
You have a great day! We can all breath a sigh of relief to know that online people do exist outside of our computers and are indeed very real (well, duh, huh?) and that they can be every bit as wonderful (if not more so) in person as online.
Ok, so... the story....
The family and I met a blogger friend today (along with her children and charming husband) for a family fun day in Estes Park. It was a great great time. The kids did great together, her hubby and mine didn't run out of things to talk about, and in between herding children up mountain trails around Bear Lakes and in a waterfall we were able to talk too.
It was all so very easy. No stress, no pressure. Just nice.
Although at first I had my worries about crossing the line between online and real life, I am thrilled that I did, and I am even happier that "real people" exist online.

I met Jobthingy ... we started talking through blogs and stuff. It was wonderful. We moved on to facebook and MSN and then onto the phone. I met her, face-to-face back in March 09. She quickly become one of my best friends. I go visit her every two months now :D
OK when we meet up this fall you better like me or do a fine job lying about it!!!
How wonderful, I'm looking forward to meeting blog friends someday. So far the phone is as far as I've gotten-but I hope to eventually have that tete a tete connection.
That is a very interesting philosophical question. I believe that sometimes people need to separate themselves from their online personas, in effect leading double lives, in order to protect their privacy. Other times, we need to pour our lives out onto our blogs. I think a balance between the two is needed.

Yes I honestly feel weird if one of my 'real life' coworkers or neighbors becomes an online follower or friend. It's like they're two different worlds and I show different parts of myself in each one.
I love meeting blog friends in real life... they are ALWAYS WAY more charming and adorable in person... or that has been my experience! :)

So nice, Julie :) I agree with you that most people are very open and honest online. I recently ran into one of my followers in the mall...LOL
I recognized her face from her picture...someone that rarely visits. It felt very strange to see a live person outside of their little following box...LOL My experience was lovely too.
So nice to visit you again here. I have been on blog vacation for a while and it is good to catch up with my blogger friends :)
