I am a Gypsy

I feel like a gypsy - the old movie type with the flowing mismatched clothes, scarves, long hair, beads and music.

(not the suppressed shut in beaten down women they became)
I spent the morning beading a set of glasses and a pitcher
which my friend will give as
a wedding gift this weekend.

I am pleased with the way they turned out.
(Considering I have never made one before)

This is not the first time I have taken such a leap of faith.
I see something - say, "Oh, I could do that!" and do....

I even signed up to teach a community education class
"Three strand wire necklace"
I had never made one myself.
Hey, I thought, I had two months to figure it out - what the heck!

I quick pulled up this video online and watched 1.5 minutes of it,
got tired of her fingernails and went on my own.
Right about the time she tips the glass over (twice) I stopped ;)

The supplies are simple - 18 gauge wire, wire tools, glass beads, glasses, creativity

You probably know that I LOVE birds
I fancy flowers too.
But, instead of boring you with a post on every bird
I find sooo exciting I have decided to do a slideshow in my side bar called
At The Feeder. It will include flowers too...
I think I will call it- In My Bed and At My Feeder- ha!

I like it!

Wow...great pitcher and glasses. Nice to have that personal touch and I bet will be well received. I don't think I could ever have the patience to do that...especially after watching ...or NOT watching... a how to video!

Speaking of beads, I got it! Jules, its beautiful, I love the green, in fact I've worn it all day! Thank you! I'll blog about it next week :)

The glasses turned out well, what a fun idea for a wedding gift. My in-laws live in Park Rapids and are avid bird watchers too. Their favorites are the hummingbirds and they usually get 8-10 each year. The kids just love going to visit them.

The beadwork is beautiful. I don't have the patience or the hands for that, but it seems you do. Very nice.

I'm impressed ... I have a habit of starting projects, but I can't seem to finish things like this. Nice work : )

I've seen similar artwork in expensive shops and wondered if it was difficult to master. I'm thrilled to have this info...plus they make great (expensive-looking) gifts! Yours are beyond lovely.

I felt a twinge of sisterhood reading your post...I frequently say yes when asked to teach a class on a subject I've never tackled. Man do I learn FAST! I call it the ready, fire, aim approach.

Great blog!

Yeah...I'll be needing some brown earrings. Or black. Either one will fit my usual mood. (Those are great!)

I, too, love birds. I really, really do. Last night, around dusk we were visited by a baby hummingbird, nearly an inch long. So tiny!

Anyway...you've got some serious moxie volunteering yourself to teach something you haven't learned yet! I need some lessons on that. : )
