It's My Birthday and I Will Pout if I Want To

When you are five (today)
You decide it is time to start pushing your weight around.

Notice the clenched fists? Can you see the locked (right) leg?
That leg just finished stomping on the ground in defiance.

Yep, when you are five you can pout at your party if you want to.
(Your mom just won't listen to you.)

The more things change, the more they remain the same. My now 35 yr. old son announced on his 5th birthday that he was now 5, so no one could tell him what to do anymore. It seems to be the imaginary point for boys which, to them, determines their independence! It will pass. : )

Ohh! Too funny...it's a good thing I wasn't there...I might have laughed out loud. Or started singing...I hope the rest of the day went better. And please, feed that poor child a little...he'll stop pouting I promise...maybe a little cake? Mwahaaaa! I crack myself up. Birthday hugs to your big boy. Mwaah! kiss too!

Oh I can remember those few birthdays where my boy behaved so badly. His guests have not turned up, but he was already upset and afraid no one is going to come. He starts pouting and throwing tantrums. horrifying ... and eventually they came. What a waste of energy.

Remember this...the qualities that make children hard to manage are qualities that will make them good managers one day!

Musey is so wise... does that mean we're looking at a future Pres??? I have a spirited five year old too but she's a flopper, she flops on the floor and acts all crazy and in a flash she's done. weird.

That's funny; I can picture several of my supervisors having been petulent & pouty!

I love you my little 5 year old. Being stubborn is part of what 5 year olds do, right? You had a fun party. Happy Birthday.
Love you more.
