That place between dreams and reality

I wake up
the afternoon sun is streaming into the window.

My thoughts are in that place between dream and reality.

The covers are heavy and warm. I have settled into a cocoon.

Moving too much work. Work to be done. Motivation lost.

Finding reason to stir is the most work I have accomplished all day. I am up. But not mentally.

It is the end of winter and I have a hard time with it.

I catch up - I do. Spring breezes float through the air and the work gets done plus.

For now, I will walk through my day and go through the motions necessary for my family for life.

Spring, I am longing for you.

Need I Say More?

Winter doesn't usually break it's icy grip here in
Northern Minnesota until closer to April....

Need I say more?

Me? Are you sure?

My phone rang one evening last week. It was a lady named Kate, from an organization in town. She was calling to ask me to speak at their meeting. She thought I would make an excellent motivational speaker for their meeting in March.
~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~
Shhhh... come here, yeah you - come over here to the side (I have something to tell you.) Can you keep a secret? I have always wanted to be a motivational speaker..... However, beside a concentration in speech during college I have absolutely no training for this!
~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~
The topic of the meeting is how to beat the winter blues. Which as we have discussed here can be a real problem in the winter. Now, I guess asking me to speak on this topic is like having a ex-drug user serving as a drug counselor. Except, really, it would be more like a current drug user serving as a drug dealer.
~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~
I agreed but with hesitation. "Me? Are you sure?" I asked... she said, "Yes, a member of ours heard you speak before and was very inspired." Ha, ha, ha, really? Well, since it has been a secret ambition of mine how could I refuse?
~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~
On March 12th I will be acting as a motivational speaker. I will be talking about how to beat the winter blues. I will speak for 30 minutes (gulp). Plus, I will be leading a craft project. ( Yeah she threw that in there after I agreed to speak!)
I highlight "I will" because - I said "yes", so there is no back down now!

Putting Life into Perspective

In keeping with yesterdays post I am trying to remain positive when in all reality my body and the outside conditions are calling me to fall into a deep dark depression. So.... consider this:

No matter who you are, there are moments when you will feel the world is too much -- days when you want to pull up the covers and stay half-asleep in bed until nightfall.

This is normal. It’s an integral part of building anything remarkable, whether a business, a relationship, or a life. Expanding your sphere of comfort and abilities comes with a cost: repeated self-doubt.

The above video may put things in perspective. In your moments of self-doubt, watch it and meditate on all of the things you’ve done that you once considering impossible.

Get back up. Bigger and better things are waiting for you.
